Sunday 29th January 2012
@ Bakers Park, Newton Abbot.
The Lions hosted London Leftfooters FC for the first meeting between the 2 clubs. The London team arrived at Bakers Park with the strong numbers, compared to Lions with our one sub.
The Lions seamed to have the edge during the match playing good football throughout and with Marc (Bonz) putting his scoring boots on he grabbed all 3 goals for the day, unfortunately a 4th goal was disallowed by the Referee in remaining minutes of the game as Bonz was seen to be offside. The game was not all plain sailing with a number of corners, free kicks, throw in’s and good runs from both sides. The Leftfooters certainly kept the pressure on with numerous attacks on Lions goal, keeping our goalie Niko rather busy, which included some outstanding saves to add to his collection.
With great performances from all players Niko (Goalie), RichC + MikeS (CB), Joab (LB), JamesH / PaulD (RB) in Defence, DaveH (CM/CB) + VasP (CM), KrisB (LW), LeeJ (RW), and Bonz (S) + ChirsC (S) up front where the team can carry momentum with our positive 3-0 Win and prepare for our next game against Heart FM.
Special thanks to Ash who produced post-match food and organised to go to The Golden Lions pub in Newton Abbot and to all who came to watch and support.
From ChrisC & Ash.
A Press release that was sent to local newspapers: Express and Echo, Pink Paper, Plymouth Herald, Ivybridge Gazette. Look out for us :D
New role for O'Flynn
